Vacuum molecular distillation is a comparatively new separation technology. It can separate liquid-liquid mixture under temperature that is far lower than boiling point by the difference of mean free path of molecules under high vacuum condition. Such separation is difficult or unable to achieve on normal distillation equipments. Vacuum molecular distillation is especially suitable to separate substances of high boiling point, heat sensitive and easy oxidized.

The molecular distillation is superior than traditional short path distillation kit by shorter residence time, lower separation temperature, capability of continuous and unattended operation.

1. Q: What's the feature of molecular distillation comparing to other evaporators?
A:1.It's better be used in research field to get needed liquid's parameter. It's not very suitable in mass process. 2.Has high vacuum degree which can reach 0.1Pa ~ 50 Pa. 3.Has advantages on dealing with materials that is heat sensitive, of high boiling temperature, belongs to biological acids or lipids. 4. MD may take only few tens of seconds to finish a separation on short path distillatory when it takes hours on a normal evaporation apparatus. 5.For viscid liquid material, you need to pre-heat the material to promote fluidity to accelarate the speed of liquid separation.
2. Q: What is molecular distillation?
A: A rotating wiper system distributes the crude product to a film on the inner surface of a heated pipe. The wiping system speeds up the evaporation process by keeping the product film turbulent so that the heat transfer and mass transfer are optimised. The lower boiling fraction of the raw material evaporates out of the product film within a short time; the residence time of the product at the evaporator wall is very short. The vapours are condensed on an external condenser. The concentrate is continuously discharged out of the bottom part of the evaporator. The processing of viscous or crystallising substances at pressures down to 1 mbar is possible.
