D002 is a macroporous, strongly acidic, polymeric catalyst. Its unique properties include higher acid strength, higher total acid sites and higher thermal stability than standard polymeric catalysts. The catalyst also has a unique structure properties including a large pore diameter and volume allowing reactants access to those active acid sites. Because of its large pore structure, it has a greater resistance to fouling due to the formation of polymeric side products.
D002 catalyst has been developed to catalyze many organic reactions and specifically optimized for the production of oxygenates such as MTBE and TAME. Due to its chemical structure, D002 exhibits higher thermal stability resulting in a longer catalyst life. With D002, a higher LHSV can be operated to increase productivity with no major impact on the catalyst performance in terms of conversion.
