municipal water filters may utilize pre filtration and or post filtration depending upon the turbidity and particle load of the raw source. This may consist of sand, bag filters, cartridge filters, multi-media or any of these in combination along with our diatomaceous earth filters.
Sand: Used in the removal of suspended solids and high turbidity.
Bag or Cartridge: For high flow rates may be used in a housing featuring multiple bags or cartridges. This would be used to remove particles to 5 microns to assist the D.E. filter where heavy amounts of suspended solids and high turbidity are present.
Multi-Media: These filters consist of multiple layers of different media size. This allows for high loading rates of suspended solids. Multi -media filters can remove sediment down to 10 micron range.
Activated carbon or Carbon Block: Typically used for post filtration activated carbon or carbon block filters remove unpleasant taste and odors, dechlorination, or organic contaminant absorption.
Pressure vessels can be either carbon steel with an epoxy coating or made of stainless steel. They are designed to work at pressures up to 150 psi. Vacuum vessels are made of stainless steel and where space is tight provides the most square footage of municipal water filtration.
Plant description
Through the use of automatically controlled backwashing, the filter will operate "on-line" for extended periods of time prior to the short backwashing cycle. Automatic filter operation is monitored on both elapsed time as well as pressure differential. When the controller "calls" for a backwash as a result of pressure differential or elapsed time, the backwashing function utilizes a portion of the clean filtered water produced by the system to clean the media bed. Single tank systems utilize unfiltered water for backwashing. Optional external backwash water sourcing systems are available for both single and multiple tank systems.

Working principle:
For the by-pass filtration, the filter is installed in the main circulating pipeline to filter all the circulating water,
but apart of the circulating water led from the main circulating pipeline is filtered, which is a repeated
circulatininterception step by step to filter the impurities within the system and finally remove the impurities
by thenecessary backwash out of the system. Installing a by-pass filter in the circulating water system can
prevent the terminal pipe of device from sludge blocking and remove the impurities in the system with
chemical dosing.
By-pass filtration is used to reduce the turbidity of the water circulation system, exactly, to reduce slime
and
prevent its deposition in the heat exchanger, so that the effect of agent will be better.
Generally speaking, if your filter is a quartz sand filter, it usually has two main functions:
1. To reduce suspended solids (turbidity). Otherwise, as the system is running, suspended solids increases
, which will exacerbate the deposition and other problems.
2. Degreasing. Especially the oily turbid circulation, such as steel rolling and continuous casting, has high
oil content and is easy for breeding microorganism and blocking the nozzles.
